The Salvation and Miracle Crusade in Milagres, rural NE Brazil took place on October 8 and 9 and had the special participation of our friend Dave Hauer from Minnesota. He spoke at the fire conference and at the second night of the crusade. The event was a complete victory for the Gospel in that region!

Many were healed of the most diverse diseases and ailments. God restored sight, hearing, mobility and much more. Many demon possessed were set free and the most important: hundreds answered the call to repentance and to faith in Jesus alone!

We left the city of Milagres with many new friends and fantastic stories that testify of God’s Power at work in our generation. Stories of real people that experienced God's power to heal, set free, restore lives and forgive sins.

I will only mention a few of these stories here. Stories like the one of the two boys aged 7 and 9 that rode their bicycles for several miles in dirt roads until they got to a village that had transportation provided to the crusade. Both of them gave their lives to Jesus at the event.

There was also the story of an 8 year old girl that swallowed a brooch. It managed to get stuck in her intestines causing terrible pain and making the girl very sick. Her belly started to swell and she could no longer eat properly. It can be extremely difficult to obtain medical care in these parts of the country. During the prayer in the first night, the swelling disappeared, the pain was gone and the girl was totally healed! Next day she came back to testify that she had eaten 2 full plates of rice, beans and meat!

Something very impressive happened to a lady probably in her sixties. She had decided not to attend the crusade, but God had other plans. When she was at her home, she heard a loud voice saying “GO TO THE CRUSADE”, she was overtaken by a sense of fear and started to weep and tremble. She left her home and literally ran to the crusade grounds. During the prayer for deliverance, she fell demon possessed, was set free and dedicated her life to Jesus!

Although I have been living in NE Brazil for 3 years, I am still shocked and sometimes overwhelmed with the needs in this region.

The city of Milagres is 35 miles away from the city of Juazeiro do Norte, home to the statue of Father Cicerus, an excommunicated catholic priest that died in 1934 but is still worshipped by millions of followers in Brazil. Every year some 2 million devotees come to visit his statue in Juazeiro.

Milagres has a population of 30,000 inhabitants and only had some 400 Christians attending one of the 3 existing churches in town.

One of the pastors reported that Milagres alone has 116 villages. 104 of them have no Christian witness at all. In many of them, the Gospel has never been preached… Can you imagine that?

This is the sad reality in NE Brazil. A region with 50 million inhabitants and a territory larger than Texas, California and Montana put together. NE Brazil remains a vast missions field in our generation.

Would you please consider the possibility of becoming an intercessor or a sponsor for our ministry? During the 17th century, a courageous group of Portuguese settlers moved into the territory of the “Tapuias”, a warrior tribe that lived in the NE part of Brazil. After a short period of time, all but one settler were captured and cannibalized by the natives.

The sole survivor, Mr. Presa, returned later with reinforcements, defeated the Tapuias and built a church in honor of “our lady of miracles” in the year of 1760. This was the beginning of the city of Milagres.

At present day, the city has a population of approximately 30,000 people and is one of the poorest in the region. It is affected by exceptionally high crime, marked by violent murders and drug problems.

98% of the town practices a form of religion that mixes Catholicism and the worship of idols. There has never been any sort of city wide Gospel outreach in Milagres and we are believing for a history making event that will turn this city to God and change the destinies of the people living in it.

I would like to ask you to pray for Milagres and for myself, as we get prepared for a Fire Conference and a Salvation and Miracles Crusade in that city.

We have already had a successful church planting seminar, in which 22 local Christians were trained to take advantage of the crusade and plant new churches in Milagres and surrounding villages.

The dates for the events in Milagres are:

Fire Conference: October 7

Salvation and Miracle Crusade: October 8 and 9

Prayer requests:

- That the people of Milagres will be hungry for God and will attend the crusade

- That the people will repent of their sins and believe in Jesus

- Extraordinary miracles of healing and deliverance

- Church growth

- Raising of new Christian leaders

- Engagement of the Youth to win souls and disciple the new Christians

- Protection for the whole team as we work in this dangerous area of the country

"It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them." (Psalm 44:3)

We faced strong opposition to set up the Brejo Santo Outreach. Permits were cancelled, our P.A. System had problems, the US missions team spent 2 extra days at the Miami airport due to flight delays, a light tower fell and so many other issues happened which wouldn’t even fit in this report... On the other hand, where the enemy tried to resist our missionary work, God poured out His power and glory, blessing Brejo Santo with a true Holy Spirit revival!

We experienced days like the ones described in the book of Acts. Our team witnessed the power of God in the streets, markets, at people’s homes, in the villages, local prison, hospital and at the crusade. The ministry team from Christian Chapel did a wonderful job as the Gospel was proclaimed with passion and demonstrated with power. We are proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zones and making such a long and arduous trip to minister in rural NE Brazil, where most have never seen a foreigner or heard a clear explanation of the Gospel and the fields are ripe for harvest.

As the ministry team went out to reach people, the Holy Spirit worked wonders: In a village, a man that could not walk for 3 years stood up and walked. His neighbors came out to see him. They rejoiced and praised God for his miracle. A mini crusade followed the door to door outreach and the first church ever in that village was born that day! In another neighborhood, a demon possessed was set free and many other miracles took place.

In the local prison, all prisoners gave their life to Christ. All in tears and deeply touched by the love of God. Both in the Youth Crusade and the Salvation and Miracle Crusade, thousands received salvation as God confirmed the Gospel with astounding miracles. A man blind for 35 years was healed. Several deaf could hear again. Many crutches and canes were left behind. Demon possessed were set free and many other healings happened. The city rejoiced and marveled at the wonders of God!

Once again we could witness the great need of rural NE Brazil. One of the Youth teams came across a woman that didn’t even know who Jesus was… Many of those that received a New Testament didn’t know what it was. We introduced the New Testaments as “A book with the Words of Jesus”. We are glad for the fruits of this crusade, however there are still hundreds of towns to be reached in rural NE Brazil. Millions of lost, sick, hurting and oppressed persons are waiting for an outreach such as this to come to their towns. Thank you for standing with us as we continue this work.

Here are some of the highlights of the Brejo Santo Outreach:

• 36 Members of Christian Chapel came to minister at homes, churches, villages and crusade
• Ministry in local Hospital and Prison
• 5,000 New Testaments donated to the local population
• 70 leaders were trained to plant new churches
• 2 tons of Evangelistic literature donated to churches
• 1 ton of food donated
• Youth Conference and Youth Crusade
• Salvation and Miracle Crusade

Today, a team of 36 missionaries left the United States to Brazil. They will be part of a Missions Outreach that will change the History of a region. The Brejo Santo Outreach!

The team will help us reach one of the poorest and least evangelized regions in Brazil. Brejo Santo is home to some 45,000 people and has been a challenge for the Gospel for centuries. Even in its recent History there were events such as the 'burning of Bibles' by the people of the city.

The truth is, the people of Brejo Santo need to hear about Jesus, to know of His amazing love and the power of His resurrection. This is what this outreach is about!

After their arrival in Brazil, we will travel to Brejo Santo for a series of events that have one single goal: Everyone in the city must have the opportunity to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives!

Please pray for this crusade as the following events are taking place:

- Church planters training

- 5,000 New Testaments will be donated

- Evangelism Seminar: Training and donation of 2 tons of literature for Evangelism

- Transportation of people from villages and towns around Brejo Santo to the crusade

- Youth Conference: Challenging the new generation to follow Christ

- Youth Crusade: reaching out the youth

- Salvation and Miracle crusade

- Prison and Hospital ministry

- Door to door Evangelism

- Donation of 1 ton of food

As we prepare for this missionary advance in Brazil, would you please pray for the following requests:

Safe trip for the Brazil and the US team

That the hearts of the people will be hungry for God

Salvation of thousands Extraordinary miracles of healing and deliverance

That the Youth team will have great experiences with God

Revival for the entire region

A very special thanks to our local church in Tulsa, OK for sending their best to help us win souls in Brazil. Thank you Christian Chapel!

With a passion for souls,

It is difficult to describe with words what God did in rural Brazil last weekend. I have just arrived from the city of Missão Velha, state of Ceara and my heart is filled with gratitude for the tremendous harvest of souls the Lord gave us in that city. A crowd with more than 5 times the number of Christians in town attended the crusade. In the first night, approximately 1/3 of the crowd committed their lives to Jesus. In the second night of the crusade, more than half the crowd gave their lives to Christ!

The miracles were awesome. The entire city rejoiced. A lady had been blind for 10 years and was healed. Several deaf persons could hear again. Two persons that were born deaf and mute were healed. One of them, a 23 years old girl spoke for the first time in her entire life. Her face was pure joy. Several left their crutches and canes. Many other miracles took place!

Something else that deeply touched our hearts was to see groups from surrounding cities coming in busses and trucks to participate in the crusade. This comes to show that the entire regions is being impacted. A pastor from Mauriti, where we had our crusade last month, shared that his church has now several more Christians and that they have planted 3 new village churches as a result of last crusade.

I'm writing this message from Missao Velha, in rural NE Brazil.

This precious city was founded in the 18th century when the Jesuits established a mission here. Soon afterward a military expedition and European settlers moved in trying to find gold in the nearby highlands.

Missao Velha has now some 35,000 people and around 500 born again Christians. This is one of the most important cities in the region and has been a challenge for the Gospel for the last 3 centuries. There are several villages around this city with no Christians or any church at all. Religious life is greatly based on idolatry and superstition. There has never been a city wide evangelistic crusade here before.

Starting today, we will hold a series of events, which have the potential to write Gospel History in this city:

Mai 15/Wed: Evangelism and Discipleship seminar. All local Christians are invited

Mai 16/Thu: Fire Conference for the Church of Missao Velha

Mai 17-18/Fri-Sat: Salvation and Miracle Crusade

Please pray for:

- Good Weather

- Protection and good health for our team and our families

- Salvation of thousands

- Extraordinary miracles of healing and deliverance

Can we count on your prayers?

Together reaching the lost and hurting in our generation,

Rubens Cunha

The Cariri region, in rural NE Brazil is one of the least evangelized parts of the country. It has entire communities still unreached by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal for 2011 is to reach 6 towns in the Cariri region - Mauriti is one of them!

Mauriti has aprox. 46,000 people and counted with about 500 Christians before the outreaches.

Counting with the full cooperation of the Assemblies of God, Baptists and Presbyterians in town, and with the help of 5 students from 220i in Louisiana,we enjoyed a true harvest of souls!

We faced several challenges in preparation for the crusade, even the threat of stoning. However God responded to the challenges with a great outpouring of His Holy Spirit and wonderful things took place:

Church Planters Seminar: 16 local leaders were trained and released to plant new churches.

Fire Conference: Local Christians were challenged and empowered to reach their communities for Christ. Many came forward renewing their commitment to reach the lost.

Evangelism in Schools: All schools were reached by either going from classroom to classroom or gathering the students in the school auditoriums. All students heard the Gospel in Mauriti. It is important to remember that many of them heard an exposition of the Salvation Message for the first time in their lives.

Village Evangelism: Several villages were reached. Door to door evangelism and mini crusades took place. Most villages that were reached had no churches at all.

Personal Evangelism: The entire town of Mauriti was reached by volunteers going door to door

Salvation and Miracle Crusade: Thousands gathered, thousands saved! God did wonderful things: A boy left his wheelchair, several deaf were healed, tumors and growths disappeared, and much more.

Food Donation to the poor: 1 ton of food was donated to the poor in Mauriti

We are now in the final stages of preparation for our first Salvation and Healing crusade of 2011. It will take place next Friday and Saturday in the city of Mauriti, Cariri region in NE Brazil, one of the poorest and least reached regions in the country.

According to the 2010 Brazilian census, Mauriti is home to 44,217 people. Around 1% are born again Christians. Mauriti has a great need for the Gospel as well as overwhelming social challenges.

Our team has been working in Mauriti for over a month now and last week we finished a church planters seminar for local Christian workers. 12 were trained and all of them plan to start new churches in Mauriti and in villages around.

One of the villages that will be reached by the trainees is the 'Agrovila'. Agrovila is a village of 1,500 people, distant 7 miles from Mauriti with no Christian presence at all. Teams have been knocking door to door in Agrovila, sharing the Gospel and inviting for the crusade next weekend. We will provide free transportation for all those wishing to come to the crusade and a new church will be started there!

Today, we will receive 5 students from 220i Bible School in Louisiana, who will help us reach schools, neighborhoods and villages around Mauriti.

On Thursday, April 7th, we will hold a Fire Conference for all Christians in Mauriti, challenging them to reach their community and to be empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The main crusade will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th.

Please pray for us as we step out to reach this much needed region for Christ!

Prayer requests:

- That the hearts of the people in Mauriti will be open for the Gospel

- Protection for Rubens, his family and entire team

- Salvation and miracles at the crusade

- Growth for the local church and renewal of local Christians

- Revival in Mauriti!

Thanks for standing with us to reach the lost in our generation!

Together extending the Kingdom,

Rubens Cunha

If you prefer the audio file, it is here: http://bit.ly/dR0QgV

Do you really know God?

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3)

The verse we just read is part of one of my favorite texts in the Bible. It is part of the prayer Jesus prayed just before being arrested, tortured and crucified. It is a beautiful prayer for His disciples and all those that one day would believe.

As Jesus is praying He declares "This is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ"

So, my question to you today is: Do you know God? Do you REALLY know God?

To this question some may answer: "Sure I do, I have been attending Sunday School all my life", others may say "Of course, I'm a church member and I don't miss any of the services". But that is not what I'm talking about. My question to you is: Do you KNOW God?

Is He the most important thing in your life? The most important person you know?

Is He more important to you than acquiring riches and wealth? Is He more important than a college degree from the best University in this country? Is He more important than being popular among your friends?

Is His presence more real and tangible than the challenges and problems you face in life?

Is Jesus more fascinating to you than any Hollywood celebrity, movie star or pop singer?

Do you have such a passion for Jesus that you will make Him the very center of your life and you will want to be like Him more than anything else in your life?

If you know God, it will show in the way you live

In our days, it is possible to go to church, be a nice person and still live like the lost people in the world. Many will come to church and do all nice things. Yet, outside the church they will act like the world, talk like the world, live like the world, watch things on TV and the internet that God despises and pursue a life of gratification of the cravings of their flesh. Those that live like that are bringing judgment to themselves and shame to the Gospel.

“ Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.” (Colossians 3:5-7) (emphasis added)

Nowadays, it is very popular to talk about God's promises and blessings and not popular at all to talk about God's warnings in His Word. However, these warnings are there and we would be wise to listen to them.

The verses in Colossians 3:5-7 warns us: Sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire ... all that will bring the wrath of God! Listen to this: The wrath of God.

If one day you gave your life to Jesus and began a new relationship with God, then you must have also began a new relationship with sin.

If you want to serve God, then you must love the things God loves and hate the things God hates.

If you have been one of these persons that are living a double life, today I announce to you: Repent! Repent of yours sins! Repent of everything that is between you and God! He will forgive you and set you free!

No matter what are you involved with, no matter how deep in trouble you are, if you cry out to God and ask for His forgiveness, He will forgive you and set you free from anything that is holding your life back.

Today, I challenge you: repent of your sins and commit your lives intensely and without restrictions to Jesus

If you know God it will show in your commitment to rescue people for Him.

“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts” (Ephesians 4:17-18) (Emphasis added)

There is a world out there that is hurting, lost, condemned to hell. We are the ones He called to rescue them from eternal condemnation and bring them into eternal life and reconciliation with God.

Think about this. Your friends at your school, your neighbors, your family members, your co-workers. All of them. If they don't know Jesus, they are condemned to an eternity separated from God, because they are darkened in their understanding, because of the ignorance in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

Yet, we are called to be light to the world, we are called to bring light into darkness and make Christ known where He was not yet known! Be bold and let God use you to bring others to Christ.

Our passion for Jesus will compel us to lead others to Christ.

If we really love God, then we will love the lost.

What if I desire to know God in a greater way?

If you need repentance in your life or if you need to know God in a greater way, pour out your heart before Him and cry out for Him with all that is in you. He will hear you. He will come and meet you. He will change and transform you. You can count on that.

As Jesus concludes His prayer in John 17, He says:

“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”(John 17:25-26)

Jesus said He made the father known to us, and will continue to make Him known so the love the father has for Jesus will be in us and Jesus Himself will be in us.

If you would like to repent from your sins and know God in a greater dimension, please come forward. I would like to pray for you.
